About the event
Parents are one of the strongest influences on a young athlete’s journey and one of the least supported.
For most parents, a child’s sporting journey begins with play, but it quickly becomes layered with decisions, expectations, sacrifices, and uncertainty. They are required to make choices about training environments, coaching, competition schedules, finances, and emotional support, often without clear guidance or a sounding board. The responsibility is significant, and the learning curve is steep.
This session will reflect on the reality of being a sports parent in India, unpacking the pressures they absorb and exert and the assumptions that quietly guide their decisions. It will draw on lived experiences and expert insight to unpack common dilemmas, how to support without overstepping, how to manage pressure and help families feel better informed, less isolated, and more confident navigating the sports parenting journey.
