The Mental Game: The Psychology of High Performance in Sport -
Across sports, we often see the same pattern - athletes who look confident and play freely in practice struggle to bring out the same performance in competition. But game-day nerves are only one part of a much bigger story. Sport is as much a mental challenge as it is a physical one. Young athletes constantly navigate pressure, expectations, setbacks, mistakes, selection decisions, injuries, comparisons with peers, and the fear of failure. They must learn how to stay focused when things aren't going well, bounce back after disappointing performances, handle self-doubt, and maintain confidence through the inevitable ups and downs of their sporting journey.
